Star2 was born in the Mae La refugee camp after fleeing Myanmar because of genocide, and his story is one of courage and change. After moving to San Diego, he began to heal through music, channeling his trauma into rhythm and verse.
His documentary, Return to Kawthoolei: A Refugee Rapper's Journey to His Homeland in Burma, garnered over 33 awards at international film festivals and demonstrated that the creative space did not stop with the studio.
Star2 has an extensive repertoire of collaborations, all on the heels of a mentorship with producer Chico Bennett, and has worked with: Soulja Boy, Mozzy, Lil Poppa, $tupid Young, Luh Kel, and many more. Yet, "Kokaine" stands out as a personal song, a reflection of who he is and where he comes from.
