Peter Xifaras's "Adagio Grooves" Album: A Meeting of Jazz and Classical Music

Acclaimed composer, guitarist, and producer Peter Xifaras has gone above and beyond in terms of musical genres and styles yet again on his new record Adagio Grooves. From Charlestown, USA, Peter Xifaras has always been known for his versatility and depth of expression, whether writing a score for a symphony orchestra or playing an emotional guitar phrase; Xifaras musically participates from all worlds. Xifaras takes people on a journey through six tracks to an inspired soundscape where elegant classical intersects with fluid jazz.

The recording is played by Justin Chart on saxophone, Max Gerl on bass, Scott Jackson on drums, and the magnificent Budapest Symphony. Adagio Grooves flows effortlessly and with sophistication. For example, "Adagio Blue" and "Adagio Dream" begin with soulful, cinematic presentations and then transition into lush grooves that are both present and timeless.

The highlight of the record is the track "Adagio Groove," which is hypnotic in the sense that it combines symphonic music and jazz improv in a masterful musical dialogue. "Adagietto" is a simple, tender moment of straight eighths that has a deep emotional quality, and it's a juxtaposition of the deep energy that is found throughout the rest of the record.

What makes this record interesting is its ability to combine classical orchestration and a more modern jazz sensibility so effortlessly. Xifaras has created a body of work that is rich in melody but very human. It collects on Xifaras' award-winning past, where his masterful combination of the past and future drew from his genuine love for creating music. Adagio Grooves is an amazing album for reshaping the definition of genre.
