The Storm Windows Channel Resilience and Warmth with “More Lucky”

With their new single “More Lucky” and accompanying collection of songs on the EP More Lucky, seasoned trios Silver Bay, The Storm Windows remind us to keep on keeping on. At its heart, "More Lucky" plays out through acoustic strums and supporting upright bass lines, with a soft driving rhythm. However, it is the simplicity of the tune, accompanied by an optimistic sentiment in the lyrics and obvious musicality, that makes it work.

There are the Mathews brothers: Rob (guitar and vocals) and Don (upright bass and harmonies), and Erik Anderson (drums). Along with the melodies by Dima Faustov's horns, and warm backing vocals from SamSam, the trio did well to create a warmth that captures and is familiar, allowing space for something new, edgy, yet hopeful along their travels, rooted in the ethics of John Prine.

The shifted sense of "More Lucky" is about movements and acting out "hard times." The shift of gratitude, wherever and whenever you can. It lets us all know our days of gratitude matter. It is a soft anthem for all of us who dealt with the heaviness of the world and still kept moving.

The "More Lucky" compositional structure of folk rock with its rootsy vibe makes this track more than a soundtrack for your 2025 summer; it is genuine and melodic, and close to the heart.
