Rosetta West Gets Back Into the Game with "Gravity Sessions": A True and Psychedelic Blues Album from Chicago

The blues rock band Rosetta West is back with a new album titled Gravity Sessions, a concise and deep seven-track collection that's recorded mostly live in Chicago at the iconic Gravity Studios. Based in Illinois and forging their path through eclectic blues-inflected music by combining elements from psychedelic rock and world folk since 2008, Rosetta West maintains the tradition of playing outside the means of the mainstream industry with Gravity Sessions.

With singer, guitarist, and founder Joseph Demagore, joined by long-time drummer Mike Weaver and bassist Herf Guderian, Rosetta West presents a two-album remake in raw and electrifyingly precise versions of their favorites.

Falling under the spell of record producer-engineer Doug McBride, Gravity Sessions captures the band at their most primal and immediate. "Dora Lee," for example, is heavy with vintage grit and a spiritual longing, as is the best-cut "Suzie" crackling with nostalgia and transcendence.

What is most special about Gravity Sessions is its sense of intimacy, feeling like you are attending a private performance in a smoky basement in Chicago, where every note is filled with gravity and history. Its not glossy and clean, its raw presence is imposing. This record exemplifies Rosetta West's spirit of untarnished creativity and devoted, authentic acts.
