Kelsie Kimberlin’s “Sucker” Combines Feeling-Based Truth with Out-of-the-Box Visual Storytelling

Pop powerhouse Kelsie Kimberlin is back on our radar with another great song, "Sucker," a raw, vibrant pop song that directly speaks to anyone who has ever been in a position where they feel trapped in a one-sided relationship. Accompanying the song is a creatively crafted music video filmed in Kyiv, Ukraine. "Sucker" is Kimberlin's fourth release of 2025 and potentially her most vulnerable installment to date.

The song captures Kimberlin confronting the painful discovery of emotional manipulation, a widely relatable subject that we've all seen glimpsed into, but rarely allows for such personal clarity. "Sucker" is more than a break up song; it is an urgent wake up call. The lyrics and melody drips with the burden of defeat, but Kimberlin's delivery seamlessly blends ferocity with fragility, wrapped in the soundscape of an impressive production team which features the multiple Grammy-winning talent of Liam Nolan and the massive audio talent of Regent Sound London mastering engineer Stuart Hawkes. "Sucker" provides a polished and intimate feel.

In the music video, directed by Kelsie Kimberlin and Ukrainian filmmaker Pavlo Khomiuk, the director transitions fastly and often between instruments (guitars, drums, keys), which symbolize different coping mechanisms that only work for a short time before you quit playing, remembering the void is looming, separate from the uplighting feeling of pretend. You can't dismiss the visual representation. Outside of the catchy pop song "Sucker" is an experience.

Already known for activism and art, Kimberlin shows once again that pop music can be both fun and purposeful. With "Sucker," she transforms pain into power and once again hits the mark.
