Music by Jeremy approaches Scenes from a Well Worn Path - Side Two as a chapter in an ambitious artistic journey. Based in Banbury, Oxfordshire, the singer-songwriter builds six songs around questions of identity, grief, joy, fear, connection, and the uneasy distance between what life promises and what people actually receive.
The album forms the second part of a planned 24-track double album, giving the project a larger narrative shape while allowing each release to stand alone. Side Two continues an emotional journey that refuses to stay within one mood. Pain can sit beside exhilaration, grief can coexist with gratitude, and uncertainty can become an invitation to examine how a fulfilled life is actually experienced.
Jeremy's songwriting is rooted in the confessional tradition associated with artists such as John Lennon, Paul Simon, Randy Newman, Bob Dylan, and Bruce Springsteen. Yet his approach is distinctly his own. He does not simply describe feelings; he investigates them, searching for the contradictions underneath familiar experiences. That curiosity gives the songs a reflective quality without sacrificing melody.
Two standout pieces, “Do Birds Sing the News” and “Idonella Sakaiensis,” demonstrate the project's intellectual and emotional reach. Their titles immediately create curiosity, while the songwriting encourages listeners to pause and consider questions about society, nature, communication, and behaviour. Jeremy's strength is leaving space for interpretation instead of forcing every idea into a simple conclusion.
The recording process is unconventional. Working from a small studio in Banbury, Jeremy writes the music and lyrics himself, often beginning with an old Faith acoustic guitar. He also plays guitars and fretless bass, while generative AI tools help construct vocal and rhythmic elements that would otherwise require musicians he could not assemble. Used as a creative prosthetic, the technology serves the composition rather than replacing its human source.
That distinction matters. Scenes from a Well Worn Path - Side Two is ultimately about lived experience, not technological novelty. The tools expand what Jeremy can produce independently, but the emotional material originates with his observations, memories, questions, and willingness to expose uncertainty.
As part of the larger four-part project, Side Two strengthens Music by Jeremy's identity as an independent songwriter with literary instincts and a deeply human perspective. The remaining chapters will extend the journey, but this six-song collection already establishes a compelling principle: thoughtful music can use modern technology while keeping human curiosity, vulnerability, and honest storytelling firmly at its centre.
