Moon and Aries Find Stillness, Nature, and Human Connection in “In the Silence of the Hills”

Moon and Aries create music that asks listeners to slow down, and “In the Silence of the Hills” captures that philosophy. The transatlantic duo of Jordana Moon in Kelowna, Canada, and Tom Aries in Cologne, Germany, shape cinematic electronic music around atmosphere, emotional presence, and storytelling. The composition steps away from rhythmic urgency to explore what becomes possible when noise gives way to stillness.

The song began with a piano composition by Tom Aries, whose classical foundations and experience in electronic and visual media inform the duo’s immersive approach. Analog synth textures expanded the original melody before the work crossed the Atlantic to Jordana Moon. Her warm vocal delivery and reflective lyrics give the composition its emotional centre, turning spacious instrumentation into an intimate meditation on nature, connection, and inner awareness.

There are no drums competing for attention and no unnecessary layers filling every pause. Instead, cello, guitar, saxophone, analog keys, and voice occupy spaces. Classically trained cellist Zara Hudson-Kozdoj contributes from London, while Peter J. Mitchell adds atmospheric guitar from Canada and Hanna Marchand brings expressive saxophone from Switzerland. Each musician responded by ear, allowing instinct and human interpretation to shape performance.

That international process is central to Moon and Aries. Distance becomes part of the creative language rather than an obstacle. Performances travel between countries before Tom Aries brings them together in production, creating a sound that feels expansive yet intimate. Chris Kung and Francois Rocheleau complete the mix and mastering, preserving the organic character of the recording.

Moon and Aries describe their identity as Electronic Cinematic Soul, a space where trip-hop, indie, electronic textures, and organic instrumentation coexist without rigid genre boundaries. Their music is created entirely by human artists, with songwriting, vocals, performances, and production remaining personal and deliberate. That commitment gives “In the Silence of the Hills” a sincerity that cannot be separated from its message.

As the fourth song from the upcoming five-song Prairie Souls EP, the track represents a movement toward earth, openness, and human connection. Its invitation is simple: step away from constant activity, listen closely, and rediscover the world beyond distraction. “In the Silence of the Hills” does not demand attention. It earns it through patience, vulnerability, and space, offering a reminder that inner peace can begin when we breathe.
