Los Angeles-based metal project The Whispering enters the scene with a level of ambition that immediately sets it apart. Led by vocalist and guitarist Lucian Fhor, the band combines experienced musicianship, cinematic storytelling, and a clear creative mission on The Whispering Part 1, a four-song EP drawn from the forthcoming self-titled album. Rather than serving as a simple introduction, the release establishes the foundation of a larger artistic world where mythology, rebellion, spirituality, and human consciousness collide through the force of heavy music.
At the center of the project is Lucian Fhor, an artist whose career extends far beyond conventional rock and metal circles. Having performed and produced music across the United States, Canada, Australia, China, the United Kingdom, and Europe, including work with world-renowned productions such as Cirque du Soleil, Fhor brings a broad creative perspective to The Whispering. His songwriting is fueled by a desire to confront injustice, oppression, ignorance, and hypocrisy, using music as a vehicle for awakening and reflection rather than simple entertainment.
To bring that vision to life, Fhor assembled a formidable lineup. Bass duties are handled by Loic Colin, whose work with Scarve and One Way Mirror established him as a respected figure in technical metal. Tobias Kellgren, known for his contributions to Dissection and other influential bands, serves as the group's touring drummer, while Dirk Verbeuren of Megadeth and Soilwork performed drums on the album recordings. Together, they create a musical foundation that balances precision, aggression, and atmosphere.
Recorded throughout 2025 at Besco Recording Studios in France, the project was guided by producer and manager Dan McConomy. The production process concluded a year later alongside mixer Mohammad “Momo” Sadeghin, while mastering was entrusted to Randy Merrill at Sterling Sound. The result is a polished yet powerful sound that preserves the raw intensity at the heart of the material.
The EP features four tracks: “The Whispering,” “Life After God,” “Evil Eye,” and “Pretty Witches.” Each contributes to a larger narrative framework that explores the tension between belief and doubt, freedom and control, darkness and enlightenment. The title track immediately introduces listeners to this world through cryptic voices and commanding instrumentation, opening the door to an experience that feels both theatrical and deeply personal.
What makes The Whispering Part 1 compelling is its commitment to substance. Beneath the crushing riffs and thunderous rhythms lies a genuine examination of humanity's search for meaning and truth. As the first chapter of a larger story, the EP positions The Whispering as a project driven not only by musical power but by purpose, imagination, and a fearless commitment to artistic expression.
