Lylantz and Cassandra Fowler Expand a Gothic Universe with “Cannibalism: Rituals of Desire”

Chicago-based artist Lylantz joins creative forces with his wife, Cassandra Fowler, on “Lylantz and Cassandra Fowler - Cannibalism: Rituals of Desire,” a cinematic exploration of power, transmutation, and desire. Emerging from Chicago in the United States, the duo presents a project that functions as both musical release and mythological chapter within their evolving artistic universe.

Written and developed as an extension of Lylantz’s earlier work “Cannibal,” this release deepens the narrative into a shared odyssey. At N Ausara Lasaru and Cassandra Fowler, Ausara Lasaru operates not simply as collaborators but as architects of a unified world where marriage, art, and philosophy intersect. The record draws heavily from Gothic, horror, and vampirical media traditions, channeling bloodlust and carnal hunger as metaphors for sovereignty and self-actualization. Rather than glorifying darkness, the project interrogates it, presenting desire as energy that can be harnessed, redirected, and transformed.

Central to the release is the philosophy of transmutation. Pain becomes propulsion. Isolation becomes identity. The concept of cannibalism is reframed symbolically as the consumption of energy, the absorption of experience, and the ritualistic reclaiming of power. Through layered instrumentation blending rock, hip hop, classical textures, folk undertones, and metal intensity, Lylantz constructs a genre-fluid soundscape that feels operatic and confrontational. His production, mixing, and mastering maintain a cohesive tonal darkness without sacrificing clarity.

The visual component elevates the project further. Filmed across Illinois and Michigan, the music video was directed and shot by Lylantz and Cassandra, utilizing a 75mm anamorphic SIRUI lens to create an ornate, cinematic language. With a larger cast of friends and family, the film portrays unity, sacred partnership, and ascension from humble origins to empowered identity. Influences from Gothic horror, dark western aesthetics, and European cinematic traditions are woven into a narrative that blurs fantasy and lived experience.

Lylantz identifies as a lifestyle artist, dissolving boundaries between art and existence. His fascination with psychological shadow work, inspired by literary figures such as Edgar Allan Poe and Dean Koontz, informs a body of work that confronts discomfort in pursuit of liberation. “Cannibalism: Rituals of Desire” stands as a bold testament to creative partnership, occult symbolism, and the disciplined transformation of darkness into self-defined light.
