“Class 2 Rapids” is a fifteen-track album written and recorded across two years, functioning as the second chapter in Rapids’ solo journey. While the name suggests force and speed, the record focuses on reflection and choice. Rapids treats each song as its own current, allowing ideas to move freely without forcing cohesion through style alone.
At the center of the project is Robbie Rapids as songwriter, guitarist, and narrator, supported by contributions from four additional writers and more than ten musicians. Other songs expand the scope further. “Big Bam Boom” nods to glam rock heritage, celebrating excess and history. “Dream Away - Reimagined" a distance and memory through psychedelic textures. “Mystery of Life” follows two paths converging into love, while “Out of the Garden” reframes temptation through modern reflection. Lighter moments appear in songs like “Mule of Mine” and “Fishing the River,” balancing gravity with humor.

Recording sessions took place at Mosspit Studio in Norcross and BigSound Productions in Johns Creek, Georgia. The environments supported a hands-on approach, prioritizing performance and feel over polish. Rapids’ generation X perspective anchors the album, shaped by years in cover bands and tributes before returning fully to original work. “Class 2 Rapids” exists as an enduring document of movement and intention. It encourages listeners to follow the flow rather than resist it. It stands as proof that steady creative motion still matters deeply for listeners.
