Every so often, an artist arrives who doesn’t just release music; they build worlds, bend psychology, and turn sound into a form of cinema. JESUS THE APOLLO, Manchester-based visionary and genre-shapeshifter, is one of those rare creators. With the new video “THE VILLAIN!”, he doesn’t ask for your attention he demands it. And then he toys with it, studies it, unsettles it, and finally turns the lens back on you.
Born in London and now channeling his creative fire in Manchester, JESUS THE APOLLO is an artist obsessed with psychology, visual storytelling, and the darker corners of human nature. His inspirations don’t read like typical musician references; they read like a filmmaker’s survival kit. The fingerprints of Hitchcock, Gothic cinema, horror sound design, and 2000s pop-punk rebellion are all over this release.
“THE VILLAIN!” pulls from Limp Bizkit, Sum 41, nu-metal cadence, spoken-poetry rap, and tension-driven film scoring. A sound that feels like a basement mosh pit fused with a psychological thriller. Think distorted angst, theatrical energy, and adrenaline sharpened into narrative purpose.
But beneath the chaos lies a message grounded in real-world emotion, the uncomfortable truth that people often get labeled “the villain” the moment they begin choosing themselves. Boundaries, rebirth, solitude, and identity reclamation form the backbone of this work. It’s not anger for spectacle, it’s self-protection rebranded as menace by those who benefited from your silence. Directed by Oliver J Frisby, shot with the atmospheric precision of Jamie Norman, and brought to life under Kafka’s visual aesthetic, the video is cinematic rebellion a study in shadow, tension, and unapologetic embodiment. Tom Hazal handled mixing and mastering, preserving the grit and intention in JESUS THE APOLLO’s self-produced composition.
From Pirate Studios Manchester to home-studio experiments and discarded demo universes (including an Elder Scrolls-esque detour), this track was built backwards: vocals first, world second. The result is raw, instinctive, and unfiltered by trend-polish.
The release sits within a broader mythology of alter egos, cosmic transmissions, psycho-spiritual themes, and a universe where confronting your shadow is the only route to evolution. “THE VILLAIN!” is rebellion, but it’s also initiation.
JESUS THE APOLLO doesn’t imitate culture, he interrogates it. He doesn’t serve ego he exposes it. He doesn’t step into darkness to shock he steps into darkness to find truth. In a digital era obsessed with sanitised perfection, he chooses dissonance, discomfort, and confrontation and that choice feels alive.
