It has never been the kind of Cat Cork to hide behind production or ego. Based in Woy Woy, Australia, with calm waters, national parks, and the tranquility of coastal life, he makes no mistake that his catalog has abundant sincerity, clarity, and emotional intelligence. With Cat's new EP Part II on the way, he shares the acoustic video for “Simple Song (Acoustic),” a bare performance that shows just who he is at his core: a storyteller first, a craftsman of old, and an artist who believes it is only fair if music feels human.
"Simple Song (Acoustic)" comes as the lead single from Part II to be released on 17 November 2025 and encapsulates Cat’s writing style, honesty without excess, melody without fuss, and lyrics with depth of meaning beneath the surface. Additionally, the song follows the cycle of a life: innocence, aspirations, disappointment, and then connection, acceptance, and contentment. Even without the production, the storytelling here unfolds scene by scene, allowing one to reflect on what they live through stories too, as you flow forward in the tranquil nature of vocal lines and warm guitar lines.
Cat’s talent is no happy accident. As a multi-instrumentalist born into a family of professional musicians, music was always more than just a hobby. It was a language. Instruments, rehearsals, and implicitly learning that art would be meaningful instead of a widget. Over the past decade, Cat has put out three albums (of which undoubtedly many of you have) and numerous EPs. He has been recognized as a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition and Unsigned Only 2025. All of this may or may not be valid details, but they all point to a writer who loves attention to detail, patience, and building something great. The same care can be felt on “Simple Song (Acoustic),” where each word is clear, each phrase is easy to breathe, and each emotion lands with intent.
High-quality production has become Cat’s calling card. While there is a great deal of recording that gets done in a small home studio, the recording is elevated by collaborating with talented session players, and respected session players, across the world, and longtime mixing partner Cameron Taylor, who, in the end, is devoted to polishing every release. It’s a small circle, but it’s effective, built out of trust and respect for the process.
In addition to this acoustic release, Cat also offers a variety of musical moods, such as the nostalgia-inducing uplift of “Promise Me,” featuring an accompanying cinematic video created by Milo Cawthorne and Ella Hope-Higginson. Whether reflective or hopeful, his catalogue incorporates some connecting point of authenticity.
Along with “Simple Song (Acoustic),” Cat Cork is not just selling a single; he is inviting the listener to stop, breathe, feel, and remember what is truly important. In a musical realm filled with an abundance of noise, Cat is reminding us that sometimes the most profound message is the simplest.
