Wattmore Uncorks Truth and Satire in Canadian Whiskey

Wattmore, brutally honest, sarcastically sharp, and relentlessly Australian, has dropped a track that owes nothing to decorum: “Canadian Whiskey.” This single is both a drinking-song homage and cultural critique, a blend of country tradition with an irreverent jab at conventional boundaries.

Hailing from Brisbane and comprised of two brothers who speak in guitar solos, eye-rolls, and raw observation, Wattmore are never subtle. With “Canadian Whiskey,” they were warned against releasing it, told it might get them “cancelled.” But for these brothers, caution only stokes creativity. They co-wrote the song with Allan Caswell, a man who refers to himself as a left-leaning hippie agitator, ensuring the track’s DNA is rebellious at its core.

On paper, “Canadian Whiskey” might resemble a classic country drinking tune. But Wattmore loads it with sarcasm, sideways glances, and a mission statement of inclusivity. It’s not a rant about America, it’s a call-out: pro everyone else. Canada, Mexico, Ukraine, France, Australia even Greenland, if they dared to distill tequila.

The track was pulled from chaos by producer Lindsay Waddington at LWM House Studios. Wattmore’s guitars were “assaulted, interrogated, and buried in shallow graves,” but beneath the distortion lies surprising accessibility. Backed by seasoned country musicians, the tune balances punch with craft. It’s brash, irreverent, and perfectly in tune with their identity.

Wattmore doesn’t hide behind PR gloss. Their humor is dry, their honesty sharp, and their commitment to truth uncompromising. “Canadian Whiskey” has already found traction on Australian country radio and was tested live at the EKKA Showdown. It’s not safe, polite, or background-friendly, and that’s exactly the point. Pour yourself a drink, crank the volume, and let Wattmore remind you that some songs aren’t meant to be comfortable; they’re meant to be lived.
