The Mess:Age's Haunting Power Comes with Sacrifice

London's music scene is accustomed to having brave voices who want to knock down the established conventions and The Mess:Age is full of intensity. Led by singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Glen Brandon “Ziggy,” The Mess:Age represents a unique and rare blend of raw authenticity, spiritual consciousness and the essence of rock and roll. With the release of “Sacrifice,” the band presents a track that is appropriate for both the present and for all eternity, all of which emanates from the isolation and chaos of lockdown.

“Sacrifice” was written over a few long nights of being isolated at Phoenix Production Studios in London, and encapsulates elements of frustration, mystery and resilience. Unlike formulas of songs that are more familiar to the artist, this song thrives in its own haunting melody and profound lyrical content. Ziggy explains that he has pulled inspiration literally from the ether and the spiritual, as the artist does not want to be derivative. Ziggy and The Mess:Age, seeks to express a truth that goes beyond genre and rock and roll, which unites rock with spirituality and social commentary.

Ziggy’s pedigree does most of the talking: he has worked with legends like Bowie and Duran Duran, not to mention Iggy Pop’s producer Colin Thurston, and while these experiences honed his own vision, they did not reduce his independence. Ziggy’s current releases focus on four albums: Make The Peace, Age Of Mess, Speed Of Light, and Alignment, all of which are self-written, arranged, and produced, as is sale as a dedicated creator and craftsman.

The Mess:Age is not just a solo act, however. Along with Paul Gold on bass and Jaime Page on guitar, the lineup brings energy and variety from literally all angles to the Mess:Age sound, so every song is layered with chemistry. They are producing music that feels unafraid of the big questions, whether they are theological, political, or if they are just too personal.

“Sacrifice” is more than a single release; it’s a statement. It is a not-so-subtle reminder that words matter, truth can’t be ignored, and music can cut deeper than a knife. Ziggy sums it up well: “Spread the word, spread the Mess:Age, always spread the love, the truth will set you free.”
