Modern Refuge Bottles Lightning with Debut Album "Runaway Dream"

In Runaway Dream, New Haven, CT’s alt-rock Modern Refuge unveils a debut that is both timeless and timely, a record with emotional weight, spiritual undertones, and the undeniable charm of a band locked in on its trajectory. Years of personal and artistic maturation culminate in the sonic palette of Runaway Dream, with its mingling of grit, DIY aesthetic, and lush soundscapes, along with the inextricable feel of place.

With the powerful sibling duo of Sam Winfield (vocals) and Vincent Amendola (guitar), and rhythm crew Brian Winfield (drums) and Jim McLoughlin (bass), the chemistry Modern Refuge shares is evident. Producer Tom Pisani uniquely captures their musicality and creativity, which straddle the beauty of soundtrack/live recording with garage band authenticity.

Tracks like "Pearl" and "Wave Empire" showcase Sam's emotional presentation and lyrical authenticity to the listener, while tracks like "Coconino" and "Velvet Gulch" transport the listener into the desert soundscapes that inspired the album's concept.

Based on a character-changing adventure to Arizona and a lifetime of a musical bond, Runaway Dream is not a debut; it is a declaration. Modern Refuge brings an original sound, healing, and stirring. Check them out live as the opening act for Collective Soul at Toad’s Place on September 26.
