Wattmore's “Romantic Side”: Country-Punk Swagger Meets No-BS Storytelling

Brisbane’s genre-defiant duo Wattmore are back with “Romantic Side”, a gutsy follow-up to their debut single “Circus Life.” Once again, brothers Aiden and Kai Boak prove that they’re not here to fit in; they’re here to stir things up. The track is a bold blend of country storytelling and alt-rock bite, tailor-made for those disillusioned by dating apps and modern romance.

Co-written with songwriting legend Allan Caswell, “Romantic Side” swings like a barroom brawl wrapped in wit. It’s both an eye-roll at dating culture and an anthem for anyone tired of shallow love games. The production by Lindsay Waddington at LWM House Studios is crisp and punchy, with top-tier session musicians adding depth to the twangy, toe-tapping groove.

Wattmore's unapologetic authenticity is what makes them so compelling. Their music doesn’t care for categories; it just wants to tell the truth, loudly. With “Romantic Side,” Wattmore flips the bird to conformity and delivers a cheeky, sharp-edged anthem that sticks. It's clever, brash, and proudly unpolished, exactly what the modern alt-country scene needs right now.
