Marc Soucy’s “Through The Quadrangle”: A Magical Global Conclusion to the STIR Series

Boston, MA-based composer Marc Soucy concludes his ambitious STIR: Soundscapes Evoking Realities Only Imagined project on a high note with “Through The Quadrangle” - the 13th and final single in his studio release series, on June 6, 2025. It is a sonic journey that integrates centuries of global musical heritage into a unified and beautiful whole.

From the veiled rhythmic textures of India and flamenco echoes from Spain, to the desert winds of the American Southwest, Soucy constructs a linear timeline that manages to be as factual as it is emotional. Through The Quadrangle, rich with layered instrumentation (mostly all on keyboard) does not merely cite cultural motifs, it embodies them. At more than 14 minutes long, the slower and expansive tempo gives way for varying influences of the regions to enter, meet, react and develop into a captivating listening experience.

Soucy, a producer for many years is finally stepping into his role as a solo composer, thoughtfully and intentionally articulating each note. A hallmark of his mastery is his ability to simplify complexity and transform complicated musical phrases into soundscapes that touch a collective human heart.

As the closing chapter to STIR, Through The Quadrangle is a reminder of music's ability to connect history, culture and humanity across borders and boundaries.
