Caitty's "Ruined”: An unsettling dark-pop tale of heartbreak and power

With "Ruined", Australian dark-pop newcomer Caitty delivers a cinematic anthem that expresses all the emotional intensity and raw honesty that might be expected from a powerful songwriter. Originally from Margaret River (WA), Caitty's latest release is a brooding and bold portrayal of betrayal, heartbreak, and the thrill of loving someone who was never really safe in the first place.

Dense with Yoga Ramadhan's epic, ambient production, "Ruined" feels like a sweeping storm cloud heavy with tension, but tinged with sorrow and earth-shattering energy from catharsis. Caitty's eerie, ethereal timbre is soft and piercing as she portrays the push and pull of powerful and painful emotions in music. The lyrics are vivid and poetic, in part inspired by Caitty's own emotional scars and, in part, her affection for morally grey characters in fantasy fiction especially the A Court of Thorns and Roses series.

With her first two singles, "Revenge" and "Alone", Caitty started to create her own space in the alt-pop world. With "Ruined", Caitty has elevated her artistry to an even deeper, more cinematic level. Dark but empowering, "Ruined" is more than just a song - it is a declaration from an artist that turns pain into poetry and shadows into light. Caitty is one to watch.
