Michellar's "Intersection": A Heartbreak, Hope and Americana Action

Michellar, the emergent singer-songwriter from San Francisco's indie-folk scene, confidently leaps into the Americana world with her moving new single "Intersection." Here, Michellar's voice is aided and abetted by UK-based musician-producer Tobias Wilson, who produced the track, as well as provided vocals and acoustic guitar. "Intersection' is about the beautiful plunge of love at first sight, and it creates a wonderfully compelling emotional roller coaster, blending acoustic guitars and banjo embellishments with Michellar's cinematic storytelling.

Written at a low point in an obviously very personal journey, Michellar is able to elevate this vulnerability into something beautiful with her debut folk offering. Michellar's reference points are solidly anchored in the authenticity of the working-class Americana genre through artists such as The Lumineers and Mumford & Sons, as "Intersection" does more than nod in homage to models of work; it allows her to reinvent the models.

The production recorded in Staffordshire, UK is so full and textured it's infused with heart - the imagery her lyrics creates sounds so familiar you can feel it, and, is just as Michellar imagined when composing the song.

What allows the song "Intersection" to ring true is its candid honesty about emotions. It's not simply a love song, it's a story about escape, hope and the fine line between danger and desire. The acoustic-driven arrangement and there is a strong emphasis on organic instrumentation highlights Michellar's poetic storytelling with words, and provides the chance for Tobias Wilson's vox to wrap a dreamy/haunting layer on top. In "Intersection", Michellar doesn't just step into Americana, she claims her space within it.
