Mary Simone Reimagines 'Nothing Breaks Like a Heart' with Haunting Elegance

Mary Simone has done an amazing job transforming Mark Ronson's high-energy country-pop anthem, Nothing Breaks Like a Heart, into a soulful and haunting ballad. Born in The Bahamas, Canada, and the UK, she draws from a vast musical vocabulary in the interpretation of the emotional lyrics, proving that great songs can have different lives with the vision of an artist who is very serious about their craft. It's stripped of the rushing beat of the original, slow, and contemplative in the slow-burning arrangement, highlighting the aches of lost love and bringing the words to their utmost vulnerability.

This is an organic recording done at New York City's renowned Power Station. This rich instrumentation gives room to express fully her rich, expressive voice. There are elements of folk, Americana, and soft rock within it. It feels so like an old classic unearthed to breathe with a new life again. This reimagined Nothing Breaks Like a Heart was produced by Emmy-winning composer and Grammy-nominated producer Stephen Webber. Every note, every pause, every lingering chord is weighed down with longing and resilience.

This makes the reimagined track sound so like an incredibly personal confession rather than just another cover. She is doing great again demonstrating her skill of taking great songs and making them hers in this stunning interpretation.

Just like the EP, Great Escape is about to drop, and so are her further developments. The track itself already shows that she is very poised to leave an indelible mark on the music world.
